On May 15th 2016, The Regency Security Group hired out Carrow Road, home to Norwich City FC, for a charity football tournament in aid of Help for Heroes and Norwich Community Sports Foundation.
Regency Security joined forces with Help for Heroes at the beginning of the year and made them ‘Charity of the Year’. Help for Heroes’ mission is to deliver an enduring national network of support for our wounded and their families. They aim to inspire and enable those who have made sacrifices on our behalf to achieve their full potential. Help for Heroes estimate that, of the 220,560 individuals deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq between 2001 and 2014, up to 75,000 servicemen and women (and their families) may need our support in the future. Thanks to Tricia Darke who travelled for 5 hours to be with us on the day.
Norwich City Community Sports Foundation (CSF) helps over 20,000 people every year achieve their goals through sport, supporting some of the most disadvantaged, disabled and talented people across Norfolk. The Foundation’s vision is to help people achieve their goals by delivering quality, innovative services through football and sport.
So far £3500 has been raised between the 2 charities and more money is still coming in. A HUGE thanks to all of those have donated.
The long anticipated day of the tournament finally arrived, the sun was shining and everyone was ready to go. Families and friends filled the Directors Box ready to cheer on their teams.
The 6 teams playing were…
The British Army Medical Core – sponsor Movo Insurance. These guys travelled from all across the country and abroad to be with us. Massive thanks to Nigel for organising everyone and to Movo Insurance for sponsoring the kit.
Norfolk Police and Licensing – Impact Media. Thanks to Jeremy and Thomas for organising the team and to Impact Media for sponsoring the kit.
Regency Head Office – Meehan Print. Thanks to Meehan Print for sponsoring the kit.
Regency Norwich – Mantra. Thanks to Mantra for sponsoring the kit.
Regency North – Colchester Telecom. Thanks to Colchester Telecom for sponsoring the kit.
Regency South – Hewes Security. Thanks to Hewes Security for sponsoring the kit.
All teams played each other in 15 minute games with the top 2 teams playing in the final. There was a lot of competitiveness between the teams but everyone played with good spirit and sportsmanship. The final was between Regency North and the British Army Medical Core. Both teams played well and the final score was 0-0 which meant a penalty shoot out with a final result of 5-4 to Regency North!
It was a fantastic day all round and there’s already lots of talks about next year’s tournament being bigger and better. The next big fundraiser will be a Toughmudder in London. If you are interested in joining us and helping to raise more money for Help for Heroes please contact our Head Office.
