2018 has been a busy year for Regency Security, Guarding and Events. Event Security is certainly an area of growth for the business and we wanted to look back and share some of our favourites.
Contenders MMA, K1 and Boxing
Lets start with MMA, K1 and Boxing. We are proud to support The Contenders, a Norfolk brand promoting local and regional talent. The Contenders put on several epic events throughout the year and our SIA Security team are always on hand. We are looking forward to Contenders #25 which is on Saturday November 24th.
Norwich City Legends Vs Inter Forever
We proudly sponsored the back of the shirts for the historic Norwich City Legends Vs Inter Forever football match which took place in May at Carrow Road, the home of Norwich City Football Club. The match was attended by just under 18,000 people and was won 2-1 by Inter, thanks to a fantastic Marco Materazzi free-kick. The charity match raised vital funds towards Community Sports Foundation (CSF) new community hub, The Nest. Regency Security supplies the Football Club with all of its third-party security provisions, both on matchdays and non-matchdays.
The World Cup
With Bars throughout the nation getting to grip with World Cup fever, June and July was certainly an extremely busy time for us.
As England progressed further into the tournament, bars and nighttime establishments were getting busier.
Thanks to our planning teams, all venues were fully staffed and the tournament was seen as a huge success.
The World Cup, which began with low expectations for England ended with positivity and optimism, despite the pain of losing in the semi-finals to Croatia.
Little Mix the Worlds biggest girl band
The Worlds biggest girl band came to Essex in July. Regency provided security staff within the hospitality areas for the Little Mix Summer Hits Tour, held at Colchester Football Club.
70th Birthday Celebrations
We were delighted to have received an outstanding thank you for managing the security at the Waldegraves Family Holiday Parks 70th Birthday Party celebrations! Honestly, I cannot believe how good the team you provided were, absolutely brilliant. We love making a difference! The Waldegraves Family Holiday Park is located in West Mersea Essex.
Lord Mayors Celebrations
It was more celebrations for Regency when we were seen lining the streets for the 2018 Norwich Lord Mayor’s Celebration Weekend. For the first time, we were providing SIA security and event stewards to support the huge gathering of people who attended this annual family event.
The Greatest Show
In July we also provided SIA security and event stewards for the 3-day event at Sennowe Park. The event was attended by thousands to see Katherine Jenkins and James Arthur. In addition, The Greatest Showman was being screened at the outdoor cinema.
Southampton Pride
Reported as the south coast’s fastest growing Pride Event. The 2018 event was their biggest party with and best line-up to date. Another highly successful event with our team of SIA security and event stewards making it an enjoyable time for everyone.
UKs top 10 best Comic Conventions
In September our events team had a weekend working with several stars from the likes of Star Trek Voyager, Harry Potter, Dr Who and The Hobbit. Even Darth Vader could be seen miss behaving and having to be ejected from the building!
Nor-Con is listed as one of the UKs top 10 best Comic Conventions, Nor-Con, the annual science fiction spectacular held at the Norfolk Showground in Norwich attracted a record number of visitors.
Mark Dean, Director of NOR-CON Events Limited said, Your team, once again, went above and beyond what was expected from them. Your staff were polite, well turned out and exceptionally professional. The ticket scanning and wrist banding areas are notoriously a bottleneck for us, but your team cut through all that efficiently.
Freshers Week
Freshers’ week has become a rite of passage for new students, providing an opportunity to make friends, find their way around and let their hair down before lectures start. We supported many different events in various locations making sure that that the new students had fun in a safe and friendly environment.
2018 is not over, as we have many duties to attend at public and private events throughout the Christmas period and New Year celebrations. Christmas is a time to stay safe, so our teams will be present to make sure joy and merriment are on the agenda.
The 2019 calendar is already looking busy with some key event dates including the Take That 30th-anniversary tour and greatest hits. Events like Take That are a large-scale planning exercise, which has already started as the event can require the deployment of around 200 SIA licensed security personnel working to maintain a safe environment.
