As part of our on going partnership with Norwich City FC, Regency Guarding & Events were awarded the contract to supply security to the Take That Wonderland Tour on the 15th & 16th June.
With a capacity of 26,000 on the Thursday and 31,000 on the Friday this was a big event for both Norwich City FC and ourselves, not to mention the city of Norwich itself. As with any event of this scale a lot of planning needed to go in, especially in light of recent events that have sadly taken place around the country.
Regency deployed 170 security personnel each day and night to both gigs to provide SIA licensed staff and stewards for searching, crowd control, way-finding and cctv monitoring, whilst working alongside the in-house stewards and police.
The first fans staked out their place in the queue outside the Barclay End entrance to the stadium at just before 4am, armed with chairs and provisions, the die-hard fans were determined to be first through the doors which opened at 6pm. There was a real festival feel around Norwich City Football Club throughout the day, with the people in the queues having fun enjoying the sunshine together, making new friends and sharing their love of Take That.
Security was high with armed police and specialist dog units out on patrol, and while they had a serious job to do, the officers were also happy to get in the festival spirit and pose for pictures with some of the fans.?Meanwhile inside the stadium an army of people were busily working against the clock to build the set – which arrived from Swansea early in the morning – ready for the Wonderland show to take to the stage on the Thursday and Friday.
The girls from Regency head office enjoyed a day away from the their desks and watched the concert from the Regency box.
The feedback we received from the stadium and all involved was overwhelming and we are now looking forward to the beginning of football season and providing all out sourced security to the stadium.
